IBM与MySQL展开合作将销售开源数据库软件

IBM准备销售来自开源数据库厂商MySQL的产品。MySQL数据库已帮助雅虎、Google及YouTube完成他们的网站数据库建设。

IBM与MySQL官员称，他们将于当地时间周三，在加州MySQL用户大会上宣布技术及市场营销合作计划。

MySQL开发开源的数据库软件。用户如果想要获得升级，技术支持以及程序维护方面的服务则要付费。

软件开发人员已经接受了MySQL，因为其代码是开源的。

MySQL是仅次于Linux最流行的开源软件。MySQL对手包括甲骨文，微软等。

MySQL和IBM合作可以让MySQL程序员开发出的产品兼容IBM System i系统，像IBM的i5操作系统DB2数据库等等。

IBM还将销售MySQL服务产品。

过去，这两家公司是一种竞争性的关系，IBM之所以决定与MySQL结盟，其主要原因是它发现一些客户希望同时获得这两家公司的产品。

DB2主要针对大型数据库，这些数据库通常用在银行，政府机构以及保险公司内。

MySQL更多用于互联网活动，像网站等等。

由于DB2是私有软件，并且只能在IBM软件上运行，因此其程序数量很有限。

而MySQL程序则相当的多。
