Bug 6449148: RMAN BACKUP WITH COMPRESSION FAILS ORA-19588

 

PROBLEM:

Customer is attempting to backup archivelogs with the compression mode and it fails with:

DIAGNOSTIC ANALYSIS:
--------------------
- If they do not use compression the backup runs fine.
- The error is reproducable at will as it occurs every night.
- RMAN debug has been generated: Uploaded ( file: RMAN_trace.log)
- RMAN script is available: Uploaded ( file: rman_script.txt)
- RMAN Configuration : Uploaded (file: show_all.txt
- RMAN Truss will be avilable next week.

WORKAROUND:
-----------
No Compression. However they need compression due to high volume
