Brands such as Versace, Gucci and Ray-Ban can sometimes cost hundreds if not thousands of dollars, though for a celebrity or someone richly endowed, the price is never a problem. Therefore, those wanting to emulate a certain look may find a cheaper pair with a brand not necessarily popular, but whose frames look unmistakably like the real thing. Sometimes a knockoff pair of glasses can successfully fool anyone into thinking that the pair they are donning are real. More often than not, however, the frames of certain emulations may be shoddily constructed, resulting in eyeglasses that are easily broken.

For people who wear fake glasses with no lens or with lenses that have no effect on the eyes of the wearer, the logic in making such a decision may stem from wanting to create a certain look on the person who’s considering them. Though it is almost impossible to ascertain the specific reason, unless divulged from the person wearing them, vanity may play in role in the decision to wear the glassless frames. Sometimes a person may try to enhance their intellectual appeal or possibly feel more mature or older when donning a pair of frames.

The logic behind the use of fake eyeglasses has certain roots with narcissism in people. The use of fake eyeglasses can extend beyond wearing frames with no lens or eyeglass in them, but also with people who buy fake designer glasses, hoping other people who view them won’t spot the minute differences between the real pair and the knockoff. Sometimes, however, customers looking to buy a pair of designer glasses may be shocked to discover that the frames they have purchased were in fact not of a designer brand at all.

The trend of wearers of fake eyeglasses has also taken a toll on those who have to wear prescription lenses to counteract bad eyesight. People sometimes feel as if the glasses they are forced to wear ostracize themselves because of the way they look, projecting a poor self-image. Young children who learn of their failing eyesight are often victims of such thought. When these people see others who are not forced to wear eyeglasses but choose to do so strictly out of vanity, oftentimes a feeling of resentment is felt for the person actually prescribed the glasses in the first place.

They wear fake glasses for different reasons, some for fashion, some for cheap price, and so on. All of those reasons attribute to the popularity of fake glasses.
